Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for providing maintenance and repair services for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within our facilities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for both Staff and Customers. The HVAC Technician will work closely with the Facilities team to conduct regular inspections, troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and repair HVAC equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections of HVAC systems to identify potential issues or malfunctions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Repair or replace defective components, such as compressors, motors, thermostats, and fans.
  • Install, maintain, and repair various HVAC equipment, including air handling units, chillers, pumps, and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety and environmental regulations during maintenance and repair work.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all HVAC equipment.
  • Conduct regular maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting system components.
  • Inspect and clean air ducts, vents, and filters to ensure optimal air quality.
  • Calibrate and test system controls to maintain accurate and efficient operation.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and replacements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of HVAC systems.
  • Recommend and implement system upgrades, retrofits, or replacements to enhance performance and reduce energy consumption.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities team to implement energy-saving measures and sustainability initiatives.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and resolve HVAC issues in a timely manner.
  • Investigate and diagnose complex system malfunctions and failures.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure minimal disruption during emergency repairs.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other maintenance staff as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to HVAC systems.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities team to develop and update equipment maintenance schedules.

Qualification:

  • High School Diploma and or Technical Degree with a focus in HVAC or Refrigeration, or completion of a recognized HVAC apprenticeship program or technical certification is preferred.
  •  equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years’ experience in HVAC
  • Experience working in a company operating under ISO, FDA, or similar quality systems or regulations.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Familiarity with formal preventative maintenance program.
  • Refrigeration/Gas License.
  • Advanced electrical, controls, plumbing, troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate work and determine the scope and work procedures necessary to perform the job.
  • Ability to prioritize problems and projects effectively ensuring that operation, appearance, and upkeep of the facility are maintained at a high standard.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with proven ability to logically troubleshoot problems, recommend short term and long-term solutions.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to safely and effectively repair and upgrade equipment as needed
